About
I received my BA in Political Science from San Diego State University in 2006 and my MSS in Development Studies from Aalborg University in Denmark in 2009. Since then, I’ve been a full-time doctoral student at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. I also teach courses on Middle East politics, American politics and political theory between Brooklyn College and Lehman College.
My dissertation explores the relationship between liberal nationalism and extreme forms of violence in Israel and the United States.
Outside the academy, I worked for some time as a human rights activist in Gaza and the West Bank and I still maintain close contact with the Palestinian activist community. I’m an avid music fan, play jazz guitar and am teaching myself to play Greek bouzouki. I love cooking (and eating!) healthy, organic, seasonal dishes but above all, I enjoy talking politics over a few glasses of red wine...
