About

I have an M.A. in Performance Studies from Stockholm University, Sweden, in 2007. The same year, my first book was published - La dolce vita: Trettio år med drag - which dealt with the history of the Swedish drag company After Dark.

Previously, I have worked as a Research Assistant in a project examining the diva cult around Zarah Leander. I also have experience of practical theatre and performance, e.g. with the young queer theatre group KUNQ.

My current research project, "The Potential of Difference: Drag Show and the Aesthetics of Resistance" revolves around how contemporary drag shows can express resistance against heteronormative power and norm structures with the help of different aesthetic strategies. I am currently investigating the structures of affects surrounding the event and the audiences' involvement with it.

Until 2011, I was going back and forth between Stockholm and New York City, but decided to stay in New York City in order to finish my Ph.D.
